Kitgum district local government has unveiled the portrait of St. Janani Luwum during the inaugural memorial lecture in honor of St. Janani Luwum at Kitgum district council hall.
The development follows concerns by the Local Organizing Committee for the 46th anniversary of the saint about his low recognition at home compared to abroad.
On Thursday 16th February 2023, Ugandans and the international community took a special moment to celebrate the life of St. Janani Luwum, the 2nd Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Boga-Zaire from 1974-1977.
“Today I have become a leader in Christ’s army. I am prepared to die in the army of Jesus. As Jesus shed his blood for the people, if it is God’s will, I do the same.” said St. Janani Luwum.
The day was celebrated under the theme: "United For Service And Growth." The chief Guest was H.E Yoweri Kaguta T. Museveni at MUCWINI sub-county in Kitgum District.
