   2. Eezzy da Lyrical, Gulu

Northern Uganda in the past, it has given us and indeed the whole world, some gems.To Uganda , it has Opiyo Geoffrey Two gweno, Dida Moses, Lucky Bosmic Otim and Tempra Omona while to the world, it has offered World Music's Geoffrey Oryema. To Kampala, Coco Finger is the best example but we cannot even count all of them. However, the boy of the moment is Eezzy, whose real name is Erick Opoka and he is the second most lover artist in Northern Uganda with 56K Facebook followers and 47 YouTube subscribers.

After years of honing his craft as a teenager rapping in Luganda and his native Acholi, he made his breakthrough to the main stage in 2020 with Tumbiza Sound. The song became a mega hit throughout Uganda during the COVID-19 lockdown. The song caught policymakers off guard after it covertly preached against following COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs). He was asked to re-make the song to encourage people to religiously follow the lockdown SOPs, which he did. He has since become a mainstay at every worthwhile show in northern Ugandan towns after the completion of his degree course at Kyambogo University. It is now commonplace for showgoers to walk away from concerts soon after he has finished performing. In Gulu, he is the climax, after which comes a haggard blackout. Performing after Eezzy is artistic suicide here, and that includes the Kampala-based stars.

" I have no problem with singing for my home people; in fact, it's my pride and happiness. Kindly bring me all the 'big' artistes you know in Kampala (combined) in my city (Gulu).

No one can outcompete me and my fellow artistes in the region," Eezzy brags.

There is no show in Gulu worth its salt without Eezzy. Even for shows where he will not make an appearance, he makes a drop via his different social media accounts, calling on netizens to attend.

In Gulu, you will hardly go on a weekend run in nightclubs without hearing his songs such as Lugambo, Kuki, Bitandike, Whine fi Me, and Mar Kere. He has also won several awards as the best musician in northern Uganda.
