Term One Opens As Some Schools Grapple With Dilapidating Structures.

Schools in Kitgum and Lamwo districts are currently faced with old structures which are in a state of disrepair. 

According to Mr. Oryema Patrick, the chairperson School Management Committee of Odunglee Primary School in Kitgum district, four classrooms including a store are currently abandoned by the school as the structure which was built by the parents way back in 1990 is currently at a state of collapsing, he asked the district to extend support by building more classroom block in the school. He adds that Odunglee Primary School is also faced with no washroom for girls and no shelter for both pupils and the teachers.

Mr Ocaya Samuel, the deputy head teacher of Archbishop Janani Luwum Memorial College in Mucwini Subcounty, Kitgum district told our reporter that they are currently faced with no permanent structure for hostel facilities. He also added that the school is faced with a water crisis as the tap supplying the school is not constant.

 Mr Kilamanono Peter, the head teacher of Madi-Opei primary school in Madi Opei Town Council, Lamwo district says that the school currently have no teacher’s latrine a similar case registered at Kwoncok primary school in Madi-Opei Subcounty with no teacher’s latrine. He also says that teachers are sharing accommodation due to insufficient rooms to host them in the staff quarters.



Every child have the rights to education and attaining skills and knowledge should be done in a good conducive environment.
